Are your hoses pink!?

The top rad hose is a touch on the pinky side of red i'll admit - it's difficult you know getting all the right shades of red when you buy from different sources/brands, the same would apply with someone else with a blue theme no doubt :detective:.

EDIT UPDATE : Just purchased some new RED radiator hoses !!

AND : The gunmetal colour code for the plenum is by Akzo Nobel and is ref FW655F, lacquer was then applied.

The Godspeed turbos GSP600's I bought way back around 2010, they sat on my shelf perhaps a year whilst I accumulated supporting mods, intercoolers, injectors, clutch, radiator, etc, all with the healthy stock internals.

All then fit and I ended up with 504rwhp but always and on the dyno with Noz I got excessive smoke, in hindsight the GSP's should of been balanced before fitting, they soon failed this is now obvious, I know now that these turbos do come with proof of balancing.

Now the next upgrade/course of action would be a total re build and this is why I update today as ever since last September this as been in the making, I purchased some forged Wossner stock size 87mm pistons, eagle rods, acl bearings, etc, drove to Lee Dents in April and we pulled the engine out and stripped it down together.

The turbos were taken to be reconditioned, fooked basically was the diagnosis, I have bought the same again but although they will be brand new, this time they will be balanced/overhauled first.

A week or so ago Lee sent me a few pics, originally way back I got some ebay stainless manifolds, waste of money, and I think these cracked pretty early on after fitting, we live and learn and they are thrown, stock reliable manifolds you can see now fitted .

Also my a/c as never worked in over 5 years, even after recharging, this as now been deleted and all the heavy gubbins that goes with it thrown away.

And finally nearing the journey's end, just waiting on the turbos to strap onto it, once they're done Lee will give me a shout and I'll go down and hinder it's re fitting :).

This thread is the closest i've got to a build thread and as i have plans a foot happening i shall update here.

Today sees me ripping out my amps, previous owner built this and yes the sound was good but it's not for me anymore, too untidy and couple with the fact i rarely have the stereo on it was time to go.

I had a light up steel plate over this so that is going as well.

Bit of mdf involved in getting it all to fit, so a weight loss as well.....it's win win, more to come :cool3:

Good call Andy in ripping out all the woofer tweeter tvvatter nonsence..thats all so yesterday :o

Appreciate your comment Brian, for my own curiosity i'm going to weigh all i take out and my guess the way it's going.....30kgs.

Gone is all my colour changing rgb lights, this includes the 1/4 window 300ZX lights and as a consequence the reverse light panel will no longer change colour, it'll be re done and light up only in subtle red.

More stuff like this removed today, one of these in each footwell which served the door speakers and tweeters.

All the factory speaker wiring is still all there and is all being pleasingly re connected, just four speakers will remain and all have been upgraded from stock, i will be keeping the door card tweeters, they'll just piggy back on the door focal ones, if not i'd have a great dirty hole !!

Quite therapeutic this cleansing !!! This below was the power lead to the amps and was connected to the battery, all gone :thumbup1:.

I can report all my 4 stock location speakers working, nice to have fade, balance, etc, all perfect............makes for a better listen.

I did have some buzzing as soon as soon as i put the lights on but i got to the bottom of this, it was an invertor i have fitted, swapped out for another and the loud buzzing is no more, happy days.

This below is my 'removal' pile.....

how did you ever get on with removing the glass scratches out?

I'm just left with some distortion, overall a great improvement on what i had which was basically scrap badly scratched swb blue glass, i'll live with what i have now.

Anyway, when it goes in for a full respray i'm going to get the shop to polish them some more and hope for some further improvement.

I shall weigh what i have taken out Richie in the next few days.

Today sees me visit 2 x breakers, 1 of which was a slicktop and i took my time and removed all these, what i like is they still have their soundproofing and pretty much all the bolt tabs are intact.

In a moment sees me filling the sink with warm soapy water and getting these spotless, i got the blind as well........it was full of water but i think it'll come up like new, it already rolls out fine and was gratis !!

I have adjustable damper control but i think i'll just set in the middle of their travel and cover over, rather than cut an hole in the boot piece which i did before although it was tidily done and the style bar will not be put back on either.

Did you save much by buying those GSP turbos including the rebalance, it's not a cheap, cheap thing to do is it. Also what did you do with the tubular manifolds?

Nothing wrong at all with my balanced this time GSP600, in fact my engine is perfect.

No smoke nothing, only had the EBC set on low, this gives me more than enough at around 13psi, not once have i been above this since it was forged.......just no need.

The manifolds were pants and must of cracked very early on with the initial unbalanced GSP's (not related of course) and the subsequent trip to Noel, they just couldn't cope, stock manifolds now on and no sign of a blow.

Oh I see the new set are factory balanced unlike the originals?

Already know Brian we both went to see a couple of cars last year at this yard but the guy has a very high opinion of what the parts are worth.

Thats the problem Ian with these breakers that become switched on to a rare, ish breaker..prices go up:thumbdown:
