Has to be said that it sounds like Gary has been all over this since he got involved and is going above and beyond.

Well done sir and hope it helps silverline get a resolution that means he can stay put!

Ah thanks for the support and feedback. I like other Committee members Mods and REO'S do this in our spare time and getting time to do several ongoing tasks for the club is not easy but one post like this makes it all worth doing. Thank you.

I have had a few issues over the years but in fairness to the mods they have always done their bit. I have had some wonderful service from some of the guys on here Bodymech and of course Slick Pete but I have to say that in my experience so called 'zed specialists' the world over are pretty poor. Everyone makes mistakes and none of us are perfect but it would be nice if people took responsibility for their actions. I have never ripped anyone off and I get irritated when I hear of people being taken for a ride. I have even seen people selling secondhand goods on here for more than I buy new!!! For myself I don't blame the forum nor the mods. My advice is that once you are sure of the facts and you have proof simply request a full refund from the seller. If that's not forthcoming take them to the small claims court it doesn't cost a lot and when you win the satisfaction makes the hassle so worthwhile. And then if they don't pay you can take out a county court judgement lol.

That's always depending on whether you've got the persons real name and address, not just an email address for paypal !

I've been done over by a Guy Called Peter Rostron and all I got from the mods was data protection, data protection

That's why I suggested to Richard the other night that anyone selling anything MUST give their details in the ad Then we wouldn't have data protection issues because the mods would know if the address was false or not and everyone else would have co0nfidence that a line of recourse if it went wrong. I'm not suggesting they send the boys round but you have to have an address for the small claims court and any subsequent enforcement action

Rant over !

Just to clarify; You do have to register your address to sell on the forum Tony. Data Protection is the Law so we can't just give out people's details to others as we would be causing an offence in the Data Protection Act. We would though, in every case pass the details on to the authorities if required to do so by Court Order. This is for the protection of ALL members.

Well why not make members put their details on the advert as I suggested Then there is no data protection issue and no address no advert Problem solved

Mainly due to the fact that the data would be available to search engine bots, so your name, address and phone number would be all over the internet. Which I'm sure you wouldn't want, I know I wouldn't.

Well make it a condition of selling that the committee is free to give out the address That would Also get round the data protection issue especially if a tick box was on the ad so it couldn't be posted unless the box authorising disclosure was ticked

does ebay, paypal, amazon and so forth give out the adress of people that have complaints against them, we wont be giving out info like that on here ever no matter how much you go on about it

and remember the club does its best to help out in situations but we merely allow the advertising of sale of goods, we dont make money from it and we are not in controll of it, it is simply an advertising board bit like your local paper selling in the classifieds, its not the clubs fault as much as its not the papers fault, but we do try our best to settle any disputes

it will be invwestigated the best it can be and hopefully come to a conclusion that both the seller and buyer agrees on, no one will be protected

hope we can resolve this and any other transactions that go south without anyone leaving the forum or being banned (which is a very last resort)

alos hope people can refrain from posting anything negative about the club as we do our best to keep it fair for everyone and its not an easy job to keep everyone happy, its not the club in a whole but individuals within it

we will see how it pans out and i for one hope it works out well for both parties

if as Bob says you decide to go to court, you can pay a nominal fee and the forum by law has to hand over all the information as requested.

Thats also the same with your place of employ. you are able to request any information relating to the grievance you may have. Data protection says so.

the nominal fee is about £25. if you do it just ensure you phrase what information you are after very specifically.

Thats why its always a good idea to keep even back ground emails right. you could end up in prison.. :-)

they will investigate and make a desicion based on the facts supplied to them from both parties, if they just dished out refunds then everyone would be scamming it lol

not suggesting that anyone is scamming anyone here by the way

Al, anyone can pay the fee and request the data requested around themselves. its part of the dpa that keeps being thrown about here.

you can request data pertaining to any situation about yourself from anybody that holds data on you.

That includes emails held by the group / company / organisation...

dont get protective.. lol

Getting a bit heavy now all this talk of court, you'd think someones done murder or summat.

Am sure a amicable solution to this will be found between the 2 involved with a bit of moderator mediation.

I dont believe the seller set out to rip anyone off and am confident that silverline is being completely honest in his problems so lets give a bit of time to let these sort this out in a friendly manner please.

I would say 99% of all sales on this forum are all great but theres always gonna be a problem now n then.

Given the original thread is not about a trader your generalisation input of "specialists" be it by observation or actual events is somewhat egotistic and frankly impertinent, if you look for imperfections you will find it , but to to corral all z traders within your narrow and confined statement is presumptive , a bit like me saying you own a zed so your a dick, not that I would but that is how your argument works against traders?????.

Disappointing....
